Kanjimori ("we", "us") is a web-based kanji learning platform operated by Kanjimori LLC. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we handle it.

What We Collect

Account Data

When you create an account, we store your username, email address, and a hashed version of your password. We never store your password in plain text.

Study Data

We store your learning progress, review history, activity streaks, and kanji level. This data powers features like spaced repetition and progress tracking.

Payment Data

If you subscribe, payments are processed by LemonSqueezy. We store your subscription status and LemonSqueezy customer ID, but we do not store credit card numbers or payment details.

Analytics (Optional)

If you consent, we use PostHog to collect anonymized usage data such as pages visited and features used. This helps us improve the product. You can accept or decline analytics tracking when first visiting the site, and change your preference at any time via the "Cookie Settings" link in the footer. We do not use advertising trackers.

Cookies

We use the following cookies:

  • Authentication cookie — keeps you logged in (strictly necessary)
  • Timezone cookie — ensures review times display correctly (strictly necessary)
  • Flash message cookie — shows temporary notifications (strictly necessary)
  • Analytics cookies — only set if you accept analytics tracking (optional)

Technical Data

Our servers temporarily process your IP address for rate limiting and security purposes. IP addresses are not stored permanently.

Third-Party Services

  • PostHog (analytics, only with consent) — receives anonymized usage data
  • LemonSqueezy (payments) — receives your email when you subscribe
  • Google Fonts — serves fonts used on the site; your browser connects to Google's servers to load them

We do not sell your data to anyone or share it with advertisers.

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from your profile page, which permanently removes all your data.

Your Rights

You can:

  • Delete your account and all associated data from your profile page
  • Change your analytics consent preference at any time
  • Request a copy of your data by contacting us

Children

Kanjimori is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
